August Fishing Report:
Lower Provo
As water temperatures increase the majority of fish are holding in deep water.
Look for weed free areas on the edge of seams and behind major drop zones.
Recommended patterns are sow bugs and soft hackle caddis patterns. Look for
strong caddis fly hatches during early morning or late in the evening. One of
our favorite patterns for this time of year is a larva lace cased caddis.
Middle Provo
Nymphing with caddis pupae and may fly emerger patterns has been very
productive. Hares ears have been one of the top mayfly emerger patterns.
Tremendous caddis fly hatches are occuring in the evenings. Try Goddard or
Hemmingway caddis in dark greys and browns.
